Mission Surgery Djougou - Benin April 2010
Background & Information
Pol and Patricia take the urologic part of this mission for their
account: they help men with enlarged prostate glands. Pol will also
introduce the technique of coeliscopy = bladder laparoscopy to the
doctors. By this, better diagnoses can be established.
Caroline and
Patricia will mainly work in the surgical field. It is up to them to
inaugurate the tower donated by the Beninese government. The 'tower'
consists of a variety of sophisticated machines that make it possible to
look into the human body using a camera while operating. Caroline will
show the doctors the technique of a stomach laparoscopy, which will
thus result in better diagnoses. Because the correct diagnoses save
lives!
