Les pathologies se présentent au hasard de leur survenue
Bonjour, voici des nouvelles de Dschang. Une jeune patiente avec ses fistules vaginale et rectale a été transférée à Yaoundé où on pourra prendre soin d'elle. Nous prenons contact avec le service mercredi pour le suivi.
Cette mission est vraiment utile... pour Linda et pour Hermann, le jeune médecin généraliste engagé par les soeurs. Ils ont un grand besoin de formation complémentaire en chirurgie et particulièrement en obstétrique.

Terug op missie, yipie!
Morgen is het eindelijk zover! Ik mag terug vertrekken op missie! Het is weer allemaal spannend :-)
De valiezen zijn bijna gepakt. Nog een plaatske zoeken voor de laatste babyspulletjes en dan kan ik morgen met bijna een valies vol kleurrijke babymutskes en hemdjes vertrekken naar Kameroen!
Ik probeer jullie zeker op de hoogte te houden!

Vol goede moed begon Françoise aan de blog maar verder dan 3 berichtjes is het niet gekomen wegens 'pas d'électricité le soir'. Jammer maar daarom extra de moeite om toch de mooiste foto's van de missie chirurgie naar Dschang met jullie te delen!
Bien arrivés au Cameroun
Nous sommes bien arrivés à Yaoundé et les bagages nous ont bien suivis.
Ici, il fait chaud et couvert et il pleut encore tous les jours alors que la saison des pluies devrait être finie. Mais comme le dit Thomas (notre chauffeur) c'est pour nous accueillir et ne pas avoir trop de poussières.

thuiskomst na kameroen
24 u na thuiskomst: goed om weer thuis te zijn, jammer dat het over is. Afscheid nemen is niet altijd makkelijk. Beloofd om volgend jaar het werk verder te zetten. Ondertussen onderhouden we contact met enkele patiënten; Zo is er Fabiola, 24 jaar, nooit menstruaties gehad. Twee weken geleden, op onze eerste consultatiedag, haar verteld dat ze geen baarmoeder heeft.
jammer - Dommage pour les malades à Dschang!
Door de vulkaanuitbarsting in Ijsland moeten mensen in Dschang nu enkele maanden wachten voor hun operatie..en er was reeds een wachtlijst!
A cause de l'activité volcanique en Islande des malades à Dschang devront attendre des mois pour leur opération et .. il y avait déjà une liste d' attente !
Chirurgie-Pédiatrie et Multiculturel
Avec 5 compatriottes d'origine différente (Grèce,Pologne,Wallonie,Flandre):
voilà une équipe enthousiaste pour une nouvelle mission double dans un
hôpital bien équipé. Le chirurgien sur place et l'infirmier anesthésiste sont
déjà très capables. Ils ont sélectionnés plus de patients que nous
pourrons opérer ensemble! Ainsi il y a déjà une liste d'attente pour la
mission suivante. Pour cette mission on prévoit e.a.20 cas de goitre, une
pathologie endémique dans cette région montagneuse.

Met vijf landgenoten van diverse afkomst (Griekenland, Polen, Wallonie, Vlaanderen) is het gemotiveerd vertrekken voor een dubbele zending. In een ziekenhuis met goede inrichting en reeds goede resultaten van de vorige zendingen: de lokale chirurg en anesthesieverplegende kunnen reeds heel wat. Er zijn ook meer patienten geselecteerd dan we kunnen opereren! Er zijn o.a. 20 goiters (deze schildklierpathologie is in deze bergstreek endemisch).Er is al een wachtlijst voor de volgende zending!

Description
This hospital is located in the province of Ménoua, but in the bishopric of Bafoussam, a region in the north-west of Cameroon.It is situated about 350km north of Douala and is easily accessible via a 5-hour trek along a fully asphalted road.
The hospital is located at a height of about 1,300 metres at the top of a hill: the height gives the place an agreeable climate. In August 2003, the health centre (Centre de Santé) was officially recognised as a referral hospital. It is the only hospital within the diocese health net in the region. There are 12 other health centres (CSs). The hospital is partly integrated into the existing national health system. It has over 100 beds and provides all the classical services on site. Sister Marie-Pierre has been the driving force behind the development and growth of the CS into a hospital and she moved to Moutouroua in the far north in September 2005. Her successor is Sister Laura, who has been in Dschang since January 2005.
The entire staff consists of a good 50 workers at present, including 2 doctors. There is also a Congolese ophthalmologist who works in the ophthalmology department, but is otherwise not involved in the hospital. The nursing staff consists of 10 nurses, including 5 A1 nurses and 5 sisters from the congregation.
It is a clean and attractive hospital which is well managed by the sisters. All material is used and maintained with the utmost care, whilst the available apparatus is clean and is also used properly when our teams are not present.
Results of the missions
The management has expressed a clear request for further co-operation and explicitly suggested some more missions. We were requested to increase the number of missions (e.g. quarterly). They also asked if the emphasis could be put more on training the 2 new young doctors, rather than the number of operations which could be performed. These 2 doctors have replaced the 2 experienced doctors who have left the hospital to undertake further specialist studies.The 2 new young doctors do not have any experience at all in the field of surgery, so they have to be given full training. Therefore, we are planning some more general surgical missions to give these doctors some more intensive training.
