Mwene-Ditu: mission urologie-radiologie 05juin/20juin 2010
Nous sommes au 11èm jour de la mission qui se termine fin de semaine.
Passé les tracasseries administratives à Mbuji-Mayi l'arrivée chez lez soeurs du Christ-roi se deroule sans problème.
Le matériel n'est malheureusement pas arrivé. Nous devrons attendre une longue semaine pour que la situation se débloque. Lundi 14 juin le matériel est là. Ce fut donc une semaine de consultations intensives et d'endoscopies. Les interventions ont débuté ce lundi (adenomectomies prostatiques, les premières fistules vésico-vaginales).
La mission de radio/écho rencontre un franc succès avec un enseignement toujours autant suivi par bon nombre d'infirmiers et de médecins du HCR et de la cité de Mwene-Ditu.

Mijn voet ça va mieux...
Bernard is genezen en mijn voet ça va mieux. Patrick is de kloekste....en werkt zeer veel ( het stopt niet met de consultaties, ik vermoed een 30 tal per dag en tussendoor ingrepen ). Ook Bernard levert hier schitterend werk door zijn cursus echografie. Het was een grappig en leerzaam tussendoortje dat ik ook als patiënt ( met mijn voet ) mocht opdraven.

Met omgeslagen voet...
Met ons
alles ok.
Bernard heeft sinds 2 dagen wat last van pululu ( diarree ) en ik heb de avond
voor ik vertrok mijn voet omgeslagen. Echo hier door Bernard gedaan :
afrukkingsfraktuur aan de bovenzijde van mijn voet. Gips was nodig maar toen ik
hier de dikke laag zag, heb ik vriendelijk bedankt....al huppelend doen we
verder en dat gaat. Hier zijn ergere zieken !!!

Description
This hospital is situated about 80km south of Mbuyi Mayi and has a reasonably good road link.
The hospital is supported partly by a Canadian congregation, from which there are still some missionaries present.
Dr. Crispin Kasongo is one of the two doctors and he is involved mainly in surgery.
The hospital has reasonable facilities and is a referral hospital for the region: it has about 150 beds at its disposal.
Dr. Richard Hardi from Kabinda carries out an ophthalmological mission in this hospital every year at the request of MWV and he is almost literally flooded with hundreds of patients.
In addition, some urology missions have been started at the request of the hospital with the aim of treating the most common urological problems.
Thanks to the high pre-training level of the doctors, the necessary patients and charge can also be accepted for this speciality on the understanding that it will only be a limited number of urology missions.
The same request has also been made for echography/radiology.
Results of the missions
The Canadian sisters and the senior Congolese doctor have pleaded with us to continue the partnership. Our volunteers, too, return from these missions full of enthusiasm. This is because the element of training for the local staff and the response which can be given to the pathology which arises complement each other perfectly in a local framework in which neither time nor trouble are spared to ensure that the missions run smoothly. We are requested to continue with the partnership with the same fervour, but with extra attention to echography/radiology. The partnership with this partner is running very smoothly and despite the demanding accessibility of the hospital, there is a mutual desire and need to continue.
It is possible that there may be requests for other disciplines in the future, but this will have to be discussed further with the local partner (plastic surgery and stomatology). The nurses also require training and support, both for pre and post-operative care and for operational organisation in the various departments.
